Here are the top three stories in Cleveland today:

  1. According to filing records, Cleveland City Councilman Brian Mooney will run for the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge nomination. The councilman who represents Ward 11 will seek a six-year judgeship starting next January. The city council would choose a temporary replacement to fill Mooney’s seat if he wins the nomination.   2. A retired Cleveland police tender was fined $50,000 for underreporting taxes for a private security company. The company handles major event security by hiring off-duty Cleveland Police Department officers. Retired officer Harry Grant was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay $294,627 to the IRS in fines and taxes owed. (cleveland.com)
  3. Authorities say the unidentified man found inside an east side sewer earlier in the week died of a gunshot wound to the chest. The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District found the body during a routine inspection. Cleveland police have not made any arrests but are asking the community for information. (Cleveland News 19)
