WorkPilot, a Melbourne-based knowledge management platform for remote teams, is preparing to launch after the close of an undisclosed seed investment cycle. The investment round has been supported by a group of well-known angel investors here in Australia and abroad.
WorkPilot is the central knowledge center of a remote team, a shared library of content, process checklists, and collaboration tools. The platform addresses the main remote working challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, simplifying activities such as staff onboarding, knowledge sharing and work transfers.
Unlike standard workflow platforms, WorkPilot includes a knowledge management system that helps teams capture and share expertise; something that is essential for remote workers.
WorkPilot was created by its two co-founders Brian McCarthy and Marco Muscat. As part of their start-up journey, the WorkPilot team participated in 2 accelerator programs before raising seed capital to bring WorkPilot to market.

With the ongoing pandemic, more and more startups, SMEs and businesses have had to provide remote working tools for new and established teams. Up to 47% of employees in Australia and the UK performed remote work during recent lockdowns. In the UK, where the pandemic has severely affected the economy, workers are increasingly turning to hybrid models, but are struggling for remote integration.
More than half of UK workers with flexible working arrangements would consider quitting their jobs if their hybrid options were removed, according to a new study from Microsoft in partnership with YouGov.
The revelation follows new data from the Office for National Statistics, which revealed that job changes and quits in the UK are at the highest level in two decades.
While Microsoft research indicates that UK workers are looking for positions with more flexibility, the onboarding process during this time has also had its share of challenges.
For example, 36% of those surveyed who started a new job during the pandemic went through the entire onboarding process remotely.
According to these respondents, challenges with remote onboarding processes include forming relationships, not having a leader for advice, learning new software, and embracing corporate culture. .
WorkPilot aims to alleviate this burden by providing employees with an interactive knowledge center where they can both share their expertise, while benefiting from the guidance and collaboration of their colleagues.
WorkPilot has been in development for almost 2 years and was built in partnership with a small group of early customers including Imperial College London, BDO Global, City of Melbourne, Deloitte and Queensland University of Technology. .
